US Banks Sued for Fraud Prevention Failures on Zelle Network

Reported 10 days ago

A federal lawsuit filed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau accuses JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America of failing to protect consumers from fraud on the Zelle payment network. The complaint alleges that the banks rushed the platform to market without adequate safeguards and denied relief to defrauded customers. The CFPB seeks damages for over $870 million lost by customers due to these alleged failures, and the lawsuit also names Early Warning Services, which operates Zelle.
