Following the US's announcement of imposing 100% tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles in May, the upcoming climate negotiations between the US and China face new challenges. The Chinese Special Envoy for Climate Change Affairs, Xie Zhenhua, expressed concerns that the tariffs on electric vehicles might disrupt multilateral climate change negotiations, potentially hindering global cooperation. With the green energy sector becoming a point of contention due to disputes involving China's electric vehicle subsidies and overcapacity, the climate negotiations focusing on green energy are once again at risk of hitting a deadlock.
