A US Court of Appeals has dismissed a lawsuit that accused major cocoa importers, including Nestlé, Hershey, and Mars, of benefiting from child slavery on cocoa farms in Côte d’Ivoire. The court found no evidence linking the plaintiffs, who claimed they were forced to work as children, to the importers. Judge Justin Walker stated that while the plaintiffs deserve sympathy, they failed to establish a connection necessary to sue the companies. The plaintiffs' lawyer expressed disappointment and indicated they are considering further legal actions.
