US Energy Firms Request Exemption from LNG Shipping Rule

Reported about 21 hours ago

U.S. energy companies are urging the Trump administration to exempt liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporters from a new regulation mandating that 1% of their shipments be transported on U.S.-built vessels by 2028, rising to 15% by 2047. They argue the rule could undermine their competitive position due to the limited number of available U.S. ships, potentially jeopardizing their export licenses. The American Petroleum Institute warns that meeting the requirements is impractical as it takes years to construct LNG carriers in U.S. shipyards.
