The US Marine Corps' 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15th MEU) recently conducted the first overseas ship-to-shore exercise of the new generation 'Amphibious Combat Vehicle' (ACV) in the waters off Okinawa, Japan, testing the ability of Marine Corps personnel to operate the ACV in different terrains outside the US. The exercise, which took place aboard the US Navy ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) on June 24th, involved simulating emergency situations to verify operational capabilities, including personnel exiting the vehicle and swimming to shore on their own. This training marks the first time the ACV has performed a ship-to-shore exercise overseas, aiming to enhance the Marines' proficiency in operating the ACV in various environments.
