A female surnamed Jiang and her boyfriend surnamed Zhang, who studied in the US for 7 years and earned master's degrees, were unhappy when Jiang's father cut off financial support. They then killed him with a hammer. In the second trial, the verdict of life imprisonment was upheld. Family members requested the death penalty but were rejected as the court considered the possibility of rehabilitation for the convicts. The couple carried the victim's body on a motorcycle to a mountainous area to dispose of it. The court also ordered them to pay compensation totaling 6.92 million NTD for civil damages. The incriminating act took place in Taichung, Taiwan, with the father being killed in 2021 after financial disagreements.
