Cryptocurrency firm Consensys announced that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has concluded its investigation into the blockchain protocol Ethereum 2.0. Consensys had previously filed a lawsuit against the SEC over regulating the Ethereum blockchain. Consensys founder Joseph Lubin expressed satisfaction with the SEC's decision, deeming it a significant win for Ethereum. Despite this development, Consensys plans to proceed with their lawsuit to establish that the SEC lacks authority to regulate Ethereum's software interfaces or blockchain. The SEC has not confirmed or denied the investigation's closure, and recently approved applications for spot ether ETFs from Nasdaq, CBOE, and NYSE, surprising the cryptocurrency industry.
