US Steak Sauce Found with Carcinogenic Pesticides, 20 Illegal Pesticides Detected in Indian Cumin by TFDA

Reported 10 months ago

The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) recently announced that a batch of 'A-1 Steak Sauce' imported from the US contained ethylene oxide residue, while Indian cumin was found to have 20 illegal pesticides and must be returned or destroyed at the border. TFDA revealed 15 items that failed border inspections, including curry powder from Myanmar, cumin from India, laksa sauce from Singapore, and Sichuan pepper from China, all found to have illegal pesticides or preservatives. The TFDA has since increased inspections for US sauce imports to 20-50%, with violators subject to stricter batch-by-batch inspections before entry to Taiwan is allowed.
