On June 28, 2024, at around 2 PM, a violent conflict occurred on a Kaohsiung MRT train due to a priority seat altercation. A 23-year-old man named Li, who was sitting in a priority seat with his legs crossed and shaking his legs, was questioned by two elderly men for not giving up his seat to the elderly. This led to verbal confrontation and physical altercation. The two elderly men allegedly grabbed Li's head, slammed it against the window, and punched him. Li retaliated but was eventually restrained. The incident was captured on video and sparked discussion. Li was later brought to the hospital for treatment of emotional distress. The two elderly men were also taken into custody for further investigation.
