On June 13, 2024, at 7:10 am, Wang Yichuan, the executive director of the DPP Policy Committee, found himself embroiled in a phone monitoring storm and was being investigated by the prosecution. However, on his way to the Taipei Prosecutors' Office, he was accused by KMT legislator Xu Qiaoxin of driving violations and running two red lights in Taipei city. Wang Yichuan explained that he only ran the red lights because he realized he was being followed from Taoyuan to Taipei, promising to pay any fines if ticketed for the infractions. The controversy surrounding the phone monitoring continues to plague Wang Yichuan despite his denials and counterattacks.
