As temperatures soar, the Central Weather Bureau has issued a high-temperature alert for 16 counties and cities in Taiwan, with a chance of extreme highs of 38 degrees in 3 areas and continuous highs of 36 degrees in 9 areas. The highest temperature recorded was 38.4 degrees in Yunlin County, with Taipei feeling like 44 degrees. Certain areas are under an orange alert for extreme highs while others are under a yellow alert. The public is advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
