On June 25, 2024, the Control Yuan held a press conference where Secretary-General Li Junyi stated his intention to defend the constitution and Control Yuan powers by applying for a constitutional interpretation and temporary disposition regarding parliamentary reform. In response, People Party legislators Huang Guochang and Chen Zhaozi criticized the Control Yuan under the DPP's rule, accusing it of degrading from a patronage institution to a worthless and thug-like institution. Chen Zhaozi expressed disbelief in Li Junyi's deviation from his father's beliefs from 2012 when he advocated for parliamentary investigative powers. Huang Guochang regretted Li Junyi's change in stance, emphasizing that Li had forgotten the legislature's investigative power recognized in Interpretation No. 585 and now claimed it should not exist. Additionally, there were discussions on reforms, allegations against the Control Yuan, and uncovering illegal practices like pollution discharge at the Xingda Power Plant.
