Woman Argues with Father-in-law, Brings Two Children to Commit Suicide at Bitan, Cai's Woman Swims Ashore Alone

Reported 12 months ago

In New Taipei City, a Chinese woman surnamed Jian allegedly argued with her father-in-law on July 2 and then attempted suicide with her 8 and 10-year-old daughters at Bitan. Jian managed to swim ashore alone, while the bodies of the two children were later recovered by the police. The case has been transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation, focusing on a charge of abandonment leading to death. It is suspected that Jian may have attempted suicide as well. Jian, who is a Chinese national married to a Taiwanese man, had a dispute with her husband and father-in-law before the tragic incident. She reportedly returned to the scene the next day in search of the missing daughters before reporting to the police. Unfortunately, the children had already drowned. Jian is now under police custody for investigation, and the case involves potential charges related to abandonment leading to death and possible suicide by Jian.
