Reported 7 months ago

A 25-year-old woman surnamed Lin faced a bloody conflict on the Taipei MRT's Tamsui-Xinyi Line last night (6/11) when she refused to give up her priority seat for an elderly woman, citing a 12-hour workday and feeling unwell. Despite this, an 80-year-old man named Li also stepped in to demand the seat. The situation escalated with Lin striking Li before both parties disembarked at Fuxinggang MRT Station and were mediated by station personnel. Li apologized or faced legal action, prompting Lin to apologize, but she later emotionally broke down, repeatedly hitting a pillar leading to injuries. Fortunately, her life was not at risk. The incident garnered criticism towards the elderly on social media, with one witness recounting the events leading to the altercation.
