In celebration of World Turtle Day, Penghu County government, along with the Coast Guard Administration and other units, released 13 sea turtles that had been rescued and rehabilitated this year on June 16, 2024, at Shali Beach in Magong City. Among them was Taiwan's first olive ridley turtle equipped with a satellite transmitter. Penghu, known as an important nesting site for green turtles and a hub for sea turtle research and conservation, aims to instill conservation values in children by involving them in the release process, hoping to contribute to the sustainable development of the marine ecosystem.
