Young Activists in Taiwan Express Dissent Through 'Green Bird' Movement

Reported about 1 year ago

At a recent anti-corruption event attended by Taiwan People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je, discussions on legislative power reform sparked the 'Green Bird' movement, where a large number of young activists mobilized to oppose the dominant Blue and White-led parliamentary power reform. While the movement is seen to have caused a slight decrease in support for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) among young people, the overall support for the DPP has not collapsed. The movement attracted different generations of activists, from Sunflower Movement veterans to high school students, all expressing discontent with certain political actions and calling for greater transparency and accountability in government decisions.
