On June 8, 2024, in Zambia, a 'complex online fraud organization' was dismantled by the local police, leading to the arrest of 22 Chinese citizens. These individuals were accused of conducting internet fraud targeting people in Zambia, Singapore, Peru, and the United Arab Emirates. The Chinese nationals were sentenced to 7 to 11 years in prison and fined approximately NT$48,000 to nearly NT$100,000. The authorities also seized 13,000 local and foreign SIM cards, two firearms, and 78 bullets from the group, indicating a significant arsenal and the need to determine the source of these weapons.
