Former Taoyuan Mayor Zheng Wen Can was involved in a corruption scandal and today was granted bail for the second time, with a new bail amount set at 12 million New Taiwan Dollars. Zheng's lawyer raised 7 million within 40 minutes and completed the bail process swiftly. The court cited reasons for bail, including doubts about the severity of the crimes alleged, with parts of the accusations considered significant. However, some charges were deemed lacking in evidence and were dismissed. Despite the prosecutors' concerns, the court decided that bail, coupled with restrictions and monitoring, could replace pretrial detention.
