Investigation Bureau provided information on Taiwanese man Lien Wei-chen, suspected of hiding 8.65 kilograms of methamphetamine in a central air compressor machine in an attempt to enter Taiwan from Thailand. Although the Bureau intercepted the drugs based on a tip, Lien had already fled to Thailand. After coordinating with Thai authorities, Taiwanese officials successfully extradited Lien back to Taiwan today. Lien, together with a drug trafficking group, smuggled 8.65 kilograms of methamphetamine into Taiwan from Thailand in February 2023. While his accomplices were prosecuted, Lien had escaped, prompting a warrant for his arrest. Despite initial reluctance, Thai law enforcement eventually arrested Lien and facilitated his return to Taiwan, where he is now facing multiple charges and investigations.
