Domestic demand is strong! The Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics revealed on June 12 that industrial and service sector wages for April have boosted the year-on-year real total wage growth to 1.35% from January to April, marking the first positive growth in almost three years. With a significant increase in domestic and foreign demand, the average regular wage in the industrial and service sectors rose by 2.39% compared to the same period last year, reaching NT$46,105, showing the second-highest level in nearly six years. The total wage increased by 3.62% year-on-year to NT$67,856, the largest growth in nearly six years since 108 years ago. The rise in wages was mainly driven by the booming domestic service industry and increased foreign demand. Overall, there is a 0.54% monthly increase and a 2.77% yearly rise in the average regular salary for all employees in April, with an average wage of NT$46,321, reflecting the average results across industries.
