The Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan warns that the first phase of this year's annual tidal surge will occur from July 20 to 24, affecting the southwestern coastal areas (Tainan to Pingtung) and northeastern coastal areas (New Taipei, Keelung, Yilan). Residents in low-lying coastal regions are advised to be cautious of seawater backflow and localized flooding during high tide periods. The bureau also highlights distinct tidal times for different regions, with subsequent surges expected in August and September.
