Watch out, parents! The Consumer Foundation tested 40 commercially available infant and toddler rice products and found that 6 of them exceed limits for lead and cadmium, which could lead to anemia, developmental delays, reproductive toxicity, and lower IQ when consumed in excess. These products include various baby rice cakes with excessive levels of heavy metals like lead and cadmium, posing risks of brain and kidney damage for young children. The foundation warns against the long-term consumption of rice products by infants and toddlers due to the accumulation of heavy metals during cultivation, potentially affecting brain development and overall health.
