A 1-year-old toddler suddenly developed high fever leading to seizures, and was rushed to the emergency department where it was found that the child had contracted enterovirus with encephalitis. Prompt medical intervention including intubation was carried out, and the child is now stable. Parents are advised to be vigilant for signs of respiratory distress, increased heart rate, altered consciousness, and persistent vomiting if their child contracts enterovirus, and seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms occur. Enterovirus infections, common from April to September, can pose severe risks especially to children under 5 years old, with complications like encephalitis and seizures highlighted in this case.
