Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson, known for his proposal to give the homeless one-way plane tickets out of the city, conceded the election to his challenger Suzanne LaFrance after losing the runoff election in Alaska. LaFrance, a former chair of the Anchorage Assembly, claimed victory with 54% of the vote compared to Bronson's 46%. Bronson's tenure was marked by clashes with the assembly over various issues, including providing housing for the homeless and snow removal. LaFrance aims to "restore competency" to City Hall and will become the first female elected mayor of Anchorage.
