The People First Party voiced their opposition today to the proposal made by Kuomintang legislator Hsu Yu-chen to amend the 'Public Officials Election and Recall Act,' which aims to increase the recall threshold and prohibits recall proposals and endorsements for officials serving less than 1 year. The People First Party Chairman Ko Wen-je emphasized the need for recalls to be rigorous and not manipulated as a political tool, stating the threshold should not be raised unnecessarily. They expressed concerns over current recall processes being susceptible to manipulation, resulting in political mobilization and creating divisive turmoil, urging for a clean, rigorous, and legal process.
