On June 17, 2024, at 6:58 pm local time, Canadian Tzu Chi volunteers participated in a street cleaning activity in Chinatown, promoting vegetarianism at the annual Taiwan Night event. With 11 different groups joining the street cleaning, the usually quiet Chinatown square in Vancouver was bustling with activity. The event attracted a diverse crowd, including families and visitors from Taiwan. Tzu Chi's vegetarian dishes, especially the braised dried tofu, received high praise from attendees at the event in Toronto as well. The occasion included performances like lion dances and appearances by the Third Prince, adding to the Taiwanese flair and highlighting the importance of promoting vegetarianism even at official gatherings.
