Nationalist Party legislator Hsu Yu-chen commented on July 6, 2024, following the corruption suspicions involving Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) Chairperson Cheng Wen-tsang, who was released on NT$5 million bail with residence restriction by the Taoyuan District Court. Hsu stated that Cheng's significant bail amount and the prohibition on leaving the country indicate serious allegations, making him unsuitable to continue as SEF Chairperson, urging Cheng to resign immediately and await judicial investigation. Hsu also urged President Lai Ching-te to handle cross-strait personnel issues well and restore dialogue for stable cross-strait relations.
