According to a report from Voice of America, the Shanghai Jiangnan Shipyard is suspected of building a ship that resembles China's Navy 052D missile destroyer. Military experts speculate that the vessel may belong to the China Coast Guard and is likely to frequently operate beyond the first island chain, posing challenges to neighboring countries with maritime disputes with China. The new ship, possibly designed for the China Coast Guard, is approximately 150 meters in length and features a narrow body resembling the 052D destroyer. Analysts believe this signals a trend towards the Coast Guard expanding its operational range to near seas, potentially surpassing Japan's large patrol vessels like the Tsugaru-class in tonnage. The vessel's capabilities represent a challenge for neighboring countries engaged in maritime disputes with Beijing.
