According to media reports, Chinese Communist Party's official media has been monitoring Taiwan's television political talk shows, being highly involved in the themes and scripts, with Xinhua News Agency journalists even present during recordings to ensure programs meet the requirements of China's Taiwan Affairs Office. In response, Mainland Affairs Council Chairman Chiu Chui-cheng confirmed the situation and initiated an administrative investigation with the Ministry of Culture. KMT Vice Chairman Lien Chan mentioned the tactics seemed like 'weiqi' (surrounding Wei to save Zhao) aimed at protecting NCC personnel, highlighting the importance of impartial personnel nominations within the NCC to prevent media control by the ruling party through this institution.
