On June 10, 2024, a man named Ruan, a Chinese national in his 60s, was arrested by the Coast Guard after he drove a speedboat into the Fisherman's Wharf at Tamsui, Taiwan, and collided with a ferry. Ruan was found to have crossed the Taiwan Strait alone from a fishing port in China. The Coast Guard closely monitored the incident, arrested Ruan on the spot, and handed him over for further investigation and legal processing for violating laws governing relations between Taiwan and China, as well as immigration laws.
