Following the attack on a Japanese school bus in Suzhou, China, where a Chinese woman sacrificed her life to protect Japanese passengers, extreme nationalist and hateful comments towards Japan surfaced online. This led to major Chinese platforms such as Netease, Douyin, Tencent, Baidu, and Bilibili cracking down on such comments by banning or suspending accounts that spread extremist content or incited hatred between China and Japan. These platforms collectively removed hundreds of pieces of harmful information and suspended multiple accounts.
