As COVID-19 and influenza cases rise in Taiwan, clinics and hospitals are experiencing a surge in patients, leading to long waiting times. A pediatrician shared that patients arrived as early as 7:30 in the morning to register but had to wait for 3.5 hours before seeing a doctor. The Taiwan CDC reported an increase in flu-related ER visits, with the predominant strain being A/H1N1. In response to the rising COVID-19 cases, the CDC announced 817 new local cases last week with 40 deaths. People are advised to utilize home COVID-19 rapid tests when experiencing symptoms and prioritize personal hygiene measures to prevent the spread of both viruses.
