E. coli Exceeds Standards in Two Shops in Taiwan

Reported about 1 year ago

In the scorching heat, many people in Tainan chose to eat ice to cool off. In June, Tainan City Health Bureau inspected 44 cold drinks and found 3 items contaminated with E. coli, including ice pops from Taiwan Sugar's Shan-Hua Factory and green tea from the popular Hanlin Tea Shop in Dongshan. The green tea had E. coli levels 8.3 times higher than the standard. The Health Bureau has given a deadline for improvement, or else fines will be imposed. It is advised to consume ice products within 2 hours for safety during the hot summer days.
