Earthquake Insurance Policies Increase Significantly After Recent Earthquakes

Reported 7 months ago

Following recent strong earthquakes, the number of residential earthquake insurance policies has surged, reaching a rate of 38.55% by the end of May, a 0.54% increase from March. The increase of about 50,000 policies in the past two months is primarily attributed to the effects of the 0403 earthquake. Most of the policy increases are concentrated in metropolitan areas such as New Taipei City, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Taipei, and Kaohsiung. The total number of policies in these six cities reached approximately 2.7271 million by the end of May, with rates exceeding 41.9% in five of the cities.
