The UEFA Champions League will undergo a significant format change starting next season, with 36 clubs participating in a league phase instead of the traditional group stage. The knockout stages will include teams ranked in the top eight automatically qualifying for the last 16, while those placed ninth to 24th will compete in a two-legged knockout play-off. The new format will see an increase in matches played, with teams now playing a minimum of eight and a maximum of 17. The Premier League will have four teams in the Champions League, and coefficient places based on club performance will determine additional entries, with the final seven slots determined via qualifying matches. The Europa League and Uefa Conference League will also see changes in format to align with the Champions League changes.
