Extremely High Temperatures in Taimali Reaching 40 Degrees; 11 Counties and Cities on Orange and Yellow Alert, Caution Against Heat Injuries

Today, influenced by southwest winds, soaring temperatures in Taiwan have led to a heatwave, with Taitung County experiencing a gust of wind. Taimali in Taitung has reached 39.1 degrees, peaking at 40 degrees this afternoon. Central Weather Bureau has issued orange alerts for Taitung and yellow alerts for Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, Yunlin, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Hualien, warning against heat-related injuries and advising to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, labor, and exercise, stay hydrated, and protect against sunburn. The hot weather is expected to continue for the coming week, with temperatures staying above 30 degrees in most regions and remaining hot and humid.
