New Taipei City Animal Protection Office recently fined an individual NT$15,000 for attacking a stray dog with an iron bar in Shulin District. The incident was reported by concerned citizens at a gas station where the abuse took place. Despite the dog being taken to a vet for treatment by a Good Samaritan, the authorities were able to identify and locate the perpetrator through surveillance footage. The injured dog is now recovering under the care of a compassionate adopter. The office reminds the public to handle aggressive stray dogs cautiously, as harming animals intentionally can result in imprisonment and substantial fines under animal protection laws.
