On June 30, 2024, the director of the Central Weather Bureau, Zheng Mingdian, warned that the first hurricane of the year had formed in the Atlantic. Although the Pacific remains quiet, the typhoon season is beginning, so preparations should be made. Due to the influence of the Pacific high pressure, sea temperatures around Taiwan are higher than usual. Zheng Mingdian emphasized the importance of being prepared, despite the reduced number of typhoons this year due to the strengthening of the Anti-El Nino phenomenon and rising temperatures.
