Reported about 1 year ago
On June 10, 2024, at 7:42 am, a Chinese national attempted to enter Taiwan, traditionally most resorted to landing on Kinmen, with cases of some being intercepted by coast guard while paddling rubber boats or attempting hand-rowing methods to cross illegally. This incident marks the first time a single individual tried to enter Taiwan by single-handedly navigating the Danshui River. The man was caught steering a vessel from Fujian and hitting a ferry when arriving at the dock, leading to his arrest. Claiming to flee political persecution and seek freedom, the 60-year-old man was handcuffed upon capture, detained under the Act Governing Relations between the People of Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area after being handed over to the prosecutors.
