Former Taoyuan Mayor and Chairman of the Taiwan Strait Exchange Foundation Zheng Wen-Can was reportedly arrested in connection with corruption charges. The Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office confirmed the arrest and stated that if convicted, he could face a minimum of 7 years in prison under the Anti-Corruption Act. The alleged case involves Zheng assisting in a land development project in exchange for a payment, which was later returned after the project did not proceed as planned.
