French Far-right Party's Domestic Setback Leads to Creation of 'European Patriots', Becoming the Third Largest Party Group in European Parliament

Reported about 1 year ago

On October 26, 2021, the far-right French party, National Rally, unexpectedly lost in the French parliamentary elections, ranking only third in the number of seats. Subsequently, the party announced joining the newly formed European Parliament group 'Patriots for Europe' led by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, making it the third largest party group in the European Parliament and the largest far-right group. National Rally's leader Jordan Bardella will serve as the chairman of the group, aiming to cooperate as part of a patriotic force to adjust policies and serve their countries and people. The group now includes 84 right-wing nationalist populist members from 12 countries.
