Global liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports rose by only 0.4% this year, marking the slowest growth since 2015, as delays in US projects and sanctions on Russian facilities hindered supply. As the market remains tight following reduced Russian gas flow to Europe due to the Ukraine conflict, European and Asian buyers may face sustained high prices until new projects come online in 2025, including expansions in the US and a new facility in Canada.
