As the government has yet to open group tour travel to China for Taiwanese citizens and some travel industry operators are protesting, DPP legislator Wang Ting-yu advised against entering 'dangerous countries.' He cited cases of individuals in China being inexplicably detained and questioned, with some still unable to return to Taiwan. He warned the public to be cautious due to China's recent implementation of stricter national security laws and increased powers to check individuals' electronic devices. Wang highlighted various cases, including a retired military officer invited for an exchange in China who was questioned about his political views, and a Taiwanese educator interrogated about voting preferences for the 2024 elections after returning to Taiwan to vote in the presidential election. Wang urged people to think twice before traveling to China.
