High Levels of Plasticizers in Taiwan's Population Exceed Europe and America by 7 Times

Reported 8 months ago

While enjoying the convenience of takeout meals may involve using disposable plastic utensils that potentially increase the concentration of plasticizers in the body, consuming too many environmental hormones could easily impact health. Research from Taipei Medical University shows that the concentration of plasticizers in Taiwanese people's bodies is 2 to 7 times higher than many advanced countries. Long-term intake of excessive plasticizers can lead to endocrine disruption, affecting the development of adolescents and children, and posing a long-term risk of cancer. Factors like microwavable food containers made of plastic may release large amounts of plasticizers when heated, with PVC containers being a major concern for food safety.
