On June 22, 2024, for the 10th year in a row, Taitung National Scenic Area Administration launched the Moonlight Sea Music Concert to kick off the Summer Art Festival, attracting over 3,000 visitors. However, the tourism industry, already affected by a recent earthquake, is facing challenges with hotel occupancy rates as low as 50% and only around 10% for guesthouses. To counteract this, Taitung County Government is intensifying tourism marketing efforts with initiatives like setting up live cameras at scenic spots and organizing events like the upcoming Hot Air Balloon Festival in July. They are also offering up to 66,000 yuan in travel incentives to attract more visitors to the eastern region.
