Indonesia vows to crack down on 'blood sucking' online gambling

Reported about 1 year ago

Indonesia has closed over 2 million illegal online gambling websites, with the Communications Minister stating that the activity is draining people dry. Despite being prohibited in the country, over 3 million Indonesians engaged in online gambling, amounting to around $20 billion, or 1.5% of GDP. The government has frozen bank accounts and plans to establish a task force to address the issue, which has been linked to financial struggles, crime, and other social problems.
