In a tragic event at Luodong Junior High School in Yilan County in 2020, a female student, suspected of being bullied and physically punished by a teacher, left during class and tragically fell to her death. Shockingly, the school did not punish the two teachers involved, prompting the Control Yuan to investigate. The student, allegedly a victim of teacher bullying and inappropriate punishment, was forced by the teacher to drink mineral water if she did not meet academic standards and was not allowed to use the restroom. Due to long-term bullying, the student suffered a mental breakdown and resorted to self-harm. The Control Yuan confirmed improper discipline by the teachers and lack of school safety reporting post-incident.
