During the graduation ceremony at the National Tsing Hua University, the keynote speaker was not a business person as in previous years but the 69-year-old Golden Horse Award-winning actress Lin Qingxia. Due to limited venue capacity, there were issues with the management of the event, causing some parents to resort to scalping tickets for up to 2,000 RMB each on social media platforms, leading to criticism from students who likened the event to trying to buy concert tickets. Despite the issues, Lin Qingxia's presence at the ceremony stirred up a fan frenzy, and after a brief respite, the invitation extended to her by the university's president unexpectedly sparked a new wave of scalping activities for entry tickets driven by parents eager to attend their children's graduation ceremony. Some parents on-site also voiced concern over the scalping behavior and called for the school to review its graduation ceremony procedures, while students criticized the university for turning the event into a commercialized affair akin to buying concert tickets, demanding an explanation and accusing the school of 'starvation marketing' practices.
