Mastercard has announced the reappointment of Richard Verma, its former legal chief and U.S. ambassador to India, as chief administrative officer after his two-year tenure at the State Department. As he steps into this role on May 1, Tim Murphy, the current CAO, will be promoted to vice chairman. Verma will oversee various functions, including legal, government affairs, and corporate security, amid ongoing litigation concerning interchange fees and debit card practices.
