According to SET News on June 16, 2024, at 2:30 a.m., statistics from Jiesheng Communication revealed the market shares of second-hand phone recycling in May, showing a 5% decrease from the previous month. The top five brands based on consumer returns at their outlets were Apple (56.3%), Samsung (19.8%), OPPO (7.8%), vivo (3.5%), and ASUS (3%). Despite the dominance of iPhone in the recycling market, specifically the iPhone 11 (128GB) model, overall second-hand phone recycling in May saw a slight decline compared to the previous month, indicating a calm period after the frenzy of upgrading to new phones in March and April. Additionally, Samsung was the main player in the Android camp with models like the Galaxy A52s recording the highest recycling quantities and prices showing signs of increase, contrary to common beliefs. This May, higher-tier phone models took the lead in the recycling market, with vivo's V27 (8GB+256GB) surpassing ASUS in volume. Consumers are encouraged to recycle idle phones for residual value reward, especially as vacation season approaches, presenting further opportunities for turning in old devices for new ones or cash.
